This is for anybody that has the real soundin' voices like Realspeak and shit. I'm kinda torn between 2 voices here and I want your opinion on which one I should get. These 2 are female voices so here we go. Right now I'm usin' Realspeak Samantha but I found a voice sample of another voice called Acapella Heather and she sounds more real than Samantha. I'm lookin' for female voices to add some variety to my work with Window Eyes and also some variety when I play the Kitchensinc games 'cause I hate how Mary sounds, she sounds like she's half dead or a ghost. I guess I should list the positives and negatives to these voices. The positive to Samantha is that she's used on the buses over here, but on my computer she takes up little space. The negative to her is that she sounds a little robotic and if I were to purchase her on Nextup's site it'd cost me roughly $51. And now for Heather. She sounds more human and costs only $40 roughly but the only thing is that I dunno how much memory she takes up and I don't wanna waste my money like I did with Cepstral Alison 'cause that one was crashin' my programs. So yeah, let me know what you think so I don't rush in gettin' a voice that I might regret buyin'.
I prefer the scansoft daniel voice when I'm playing games, because I find the anna voice that's already on windows vista machines hard to hear when I'm playing things like homer on a harly or whatever that's called.
Yeah well sometimes I like to play with female opponents in games like Monopoly or Life. And I almost forgot, I'm usin' a 30 day trial of Samantha that I found on a site called Text2go. Unfortunately since she downloads into the Text2go directory it fucked up my other Realspeak voice which is Tom 'cause I heard that shit gets broken if you put another voice into a different directory. So that's why I'm askin' which voice I should buy and keep in mind that Nextup doesn't support E-Cheque, those cheap bastards. But I'll save that for another time.
Hmm, is there somewhere where I can hear the realspeak voices without logging in?
www.nextup.com does those voices.
I like either one. If I'm reading it correctly, Heather takes up 100mb of space. Would that be true? How much is she and can one buy her for synthesizing screen readers? Lololol, is synthesizing a word?
Yeah. Synthesizing is a word, lol. Jesus, I dunno why the system isn't tellin' me via email when these messages come in but anyway. I've made up my mind. I'm gonna go ahead and buy Heather. She takes up 112 MB which sounds strange 'cause she takes up more room than Realspeak Tom but the speech ain't sluggish or buffered or anythin'. My computer must be kick ass if that's the case. I'm tryin' her as a 30 day trial from Acapela's site. After the trial, I'm buyin' her. So yeah, just thought I would pass that along.
I have the Heather voice in my phone and hate it. she just doesn't sound appealing on the ear unless you speed her up.
You have that on your phone? Wow, how much of your resources do those voices use?
I thought about trying those voices on my Q, but haven't partly for that reason, and I can't afford, and don't really want to pay $90 a pop for each voice.
I like the fact that sometimes you can hear Heather breathe. That's what got me hooked on her, and plus she sounds more real than most female voices.
